2015 Youth Backcountry Camp - Summit mountains, build leadership, challenge yourself!
The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA), the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science (TINS), and the City of South Lake Tahoe (CSLT) are partnering for this 3-day program that will introduce teens (ages 12-14) to a wildlife survivor’s state of mind! We invite all eligible teens to come unplug and gain a greater awareness of Tahoe’s natural inhabitants.
Year after year, these programs prove to be a great opportunity for teens to make new friends while learning about: wilderness survival, navigation (map/compass and GPS), Leave No Trace wilderness ethics, local ecology and geology and backcountry cooking and nutrition. Participants will backpack approximately 3 miles per day and develop crucial backcountry skills while out on the Tahoe Rim Trail.
YBCC -Wildlife Survival (3-day) ages 12-14 – August 1st to 3rd – $295
Gear, food and transportation will be provided for all participants. All programs are instructed by experienced and well-trained staff from the TRTA, TINS and the City of SLT. Partial scholarships are available! To determine your eligibility, please contact Justine by phone (775) 298-4492 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
